About the Role
Lead and develop the Malta compliance team, set strategic direction, provide compliance training and advice, maintain compliance policies and controls, partner with cross-functional teams, monitor Maltese and EU regulatory requirements, oversee reviews and investigations, and prepare reports for management and the Board.
Requirements
- 10+ years of regulatory compliance experience in financial services, payments, fintech, or cryptocurrency.
- Experience leading a compliance management program aligned with Malta and EU standards.
- Leadership experience with senior business stakeholders.
- People management skills.
- Experience as a regulated compliance approved person such as SMF16, or equivalent senior compliance experience.
- Working knowledge of MiFID, MiCA, and GDPR compliance policies.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the crypto industry.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Malta compliance team and provide strategic direction, training, and compliance advice.
- Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, controls, and frameworks.
- Partner with Data, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Product, and Risk teams.
- Monitor compliance with Maltese and EU laws, regulations, and policies.
- Oversee compliance reviews, investigations, policy updates, and risk assessments.
- Participate in Board committee and sub-committee meetings.
- Conduct and oversee the company training schedule.
- Coordinate with second- and third-line teams.
- Advise business team members on compliance issues.
- Prepare compliance reports and materials for management, the Board, and stakeholders.
- Assist with special projects.
