About the Role
You will own the developer experience strategy and roadmap for developer tooling, CI/CD, and the internal platform. You will lead developer productivity, evolve Backstage, build platform templates and shared libraries, define productivity metrics, prepare platforms for AI-assisted development, and lead and mentor platform engineering teams.
Requirements
- Experience leading Developer Experience, Platform Engineering, or DevOps/SRE teams at scale
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with developer tooling in a modern cloud environment
- Experience with Backstage or a comparable internal developer portal
- Experience running developer productivity or paved-road functions
- Experience building Java/Spring and Python templates
- Experience building shared authentication libraries
- Knowledge of DORA metrics or SPACE
- Familiarity with Claude Code or GitHub Copilot
- Knowledge of guardrails and governance for AI-developed applications
- Strong people leadership skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in financial services or a regulated technology environment is a plus
Responsibilities
- Own the developer experience strategy
- Set the roadmap for developer tooling, CI/CD, and the internal platform
- Lead the design and improvement of CI/CD pipelines
- Lead the design and improvement of developer tooling
- Define and report DevEx and engineering productivity metrics
- Own and evolve the Backstage service catalogue
- Manage the Developer Productivity function
- Build and maintain Java/Spring and Python templates
- Own internally developed authentication and common-functionality libraries
- Build and mentor platform engineering teams
- Prepare the engineering platform for agentic development
- Define the operating model for AI-developed applications in production
- Partner with engineering, security, and compliance stakeholders
