About the Role
You will set the lab’s operating thesis and build a focused portfolio of economic research initiatives. You will select funding vehicles, recruit complementary experts, manage grants and fellowships, coordinate portfolio learning, cultivate external collaborators, and create decision materials for leadership.
Requirements
- Economics or policy background grounded in real-world work
- Ability to evaluate proposals and make funding decisions
- Experience managing multiple unrelated initiatives
- Ability to communicate with both AGI-focused and traditional economics audiences
- Experience navigating politically sensitive or heavily scrutinized work
Responsibilities
- Define the lab's operating thesis for transformative AI economics and policy
- Build and own a portfolio of fundable research bets
- Hire a small team of complementary thinkers
- Select appropriate vehicles for pilots and experiments
- Run lab meetings, portfolio reviews, and peer critique
- Manage relationships with economists, policy entrepreneurs, and institution builders
- Create decision artifacts for leadership
