About the Role
You will own the payroll and benefits accounting close process, ensuring compensation expenses are accurately recorded and supported by strong controls. You will reconcile payroll, benefits, and carrier data; prepare journal entries and accruals; maintain tax registrations and documentation; resolve discrepancies; and support audits, systems integrations, and expansion into new jurisdictions.
Requirements
- 3 to 5+ years of general accounting experience owning payroll and benefits close processes
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent
- Experience scaling systems in a high-growth environment
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Communication and relationship-building skills
Responsibilities
- Lead the payroll and benefits accounting close process
- Reconcile payroll-provider reports to the general ledger
- Prepare and post payroll journal entries and accruals
- Reconcile benefits data, payroll deductions, and carrier invoices
- Investigate discrepancies across HRIS, payroll, benefits, and ERP systems
- Maintain payroll documentation, controls, and process documentation
- Maintain payroll system configuration and integrations
- Maintain payroll tax registrations and monitor filings
- Support year-end W-2 reconciliation and payroll tax notice responses
- Coordinate with HR to validate employee and compensation data
