About the Role

You will establish and lead the Payments pod. You will launch and operate payment corridors, translate regulatory obligations into running systems, and own payment experiences across API and GUI. You will manage delivery and on-call practices, review designs, write and ship code, improve operational maturity, and hire and develop the team.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years managing a team of 5 or more, including a Tech Lead or senior IC
  • Strong backend individual contributor track record
  • Hands-on ability to design APIs and schemas and produce tested code
  • Experience building or operating production payment systems
  • Experience integrating banking, payment, or FX partners
  • Knowledge of distributed-systems correctness for money movement
  • Experience working with compliance, risk, or regulators
  • Experience running a high-risk production migration or cutover with a tested rollback
  • Experience owning on-call and incident command
  • Demonstrated hiring and performance management experience

Responsibilities

  • Establish the Payments pod and define its charter
  • Launch new payment corridors from partner integration through general availability
  • Standardize partner integrations and corridor configuration
  • Maintain corridor reliability, failure handling, failover behavior, and runbooks
  • Build systems for safeguarding, transaction monitoring, controls, and audit evidence
  • Partner with Compliance and Legal on engineering requirements
  • Own payments features across API and GUI
  • Ship payment features with idempotency, exactly-once ledger effects, backward compatibility, and rollbacks
  • Lead the Payments pod's roadmap, standards, and on-call posture
  • Review designs, write and ship code, and debug production issues
  • Improve incident command, deployment practices, delivery metrics, and alerting
  • Hire, ramp, manage, and develop team members
