About the Role
You will lead Platform Squads responsible for the Core Platform, Core Data (including blockchain integrations), Developer Experience, and DevOps. You will spend most of your time managing processes, defining roadmaps, running agile ceremonies, and ensuring proper task prioritization and execution in JIRA. You will drive technical vision for scalable architectures and reliable data pipelines, occasionally contributing hands-on to remove blockers or guide technical direction. You will collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to align priorities, monitor key performance metrics (lead time, uptime, pipeline latency, velocity), and ensure systems meet scalability, security, and compliance requirements. This is a remote role across Europe and combines management responsibilities with some technical contribution.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering
- At least 5 years working as a backend engineer
- 3+ years in a senior leadership role managing multiple teams or squads
- Proven experience managing ~15–20 engineers in a larger organisation with cross-squad dependencies
- Strong background in system architecture, data engineering, and infrastructure management
- Hands-on experience with data pipeline technologies, APIs, and DevOps tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform
- Solid understanding of CI/CD processes and cloud-native tools
- Proven ability to manage tasks in JIRA and define and align roadmaps
- Deep understanding and application of agile methodologies including Scrum
- Ability to monitor and improve team performance using metrics/KPIs
Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor engineers and engineering leads across multiple squads
- Define and refine team processes and ensure adherence to agile methodologies
- Facilitate key ceremonies such as standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
- Oversee task management and prioritization in JIRA
- Define and manage roadmaps, timelines, and deliverables with stakeholders
- Drive technical vision and roadmap for platform, data pipelines, DevEx, and DevOps
- Ensure delivery of scalable, high-performance data pipelines including blockchain integrations
- Monitor and improve performance metrics such as lead time, uptime, pipeline latency, and velocity
- Ensure platform components comply with security, compliance, and scalability requirements
- Occasionally contribute hands-on to solve critical technical challenges
