About the Role
You will own the design, analysis, integration, and testing of thermal-management and electronics-cooling solutions for unmanned aircraft avionics. You will develop heat-transfer and fluid-flow models, lead trade studies and risk assessments, correlate models with tests, and communicate findings through reviews and reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
- At least 2 years of professional experience in avionics or electronics thermal engineering
- Heat-transfer and fluid-mechanics expertise
- Knowledge of active and passive cooling solutions
- Knowledge of TIMs, spreaders, heat sinks, vapor chambers, heat pipes, and fans
- Proficiency with thermal analysis and CFD tools such as ANSYS Icepak, FloEFD, or STAR-CCM+
- Experience with CAD tools such as NX or SolidWorks
- First-principles engineering problem-solving experience
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience with high-altitude aircraft avionics cooling and thermal design
- Knowledge of aircraft integration constraints
- Thermal and fluid-system testing, instrumentation, and validation experience
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods for thermal management
Responsibilities
- Own thermal solutions for unmanned aerial vehicle avionics, including design, analysis, and testing
- Develop and validate heat-transfer and fluid-flow models using hand calculations and CFD tools
- Provide technical leadership for trade studies, system architecture decisions, and risk assessments
- Drive test planning, instrumentation, and data analysis to correlate models with experimental results
- Guide cross-disciplinary teams in applying thermal and fluid fundamentals
- Communicate technical findings through design reviews and written reports
