About the Role
You will set and evolve the research agenda, lead interdisciplinary research teams, oversee multiple research tracks, and ensure rigorous, impactful outputs. You will recruit researchers, develop partnerships and funding relationships, represent the Center externally, and make research accessible to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of progressive experience, or a related advanced degree and 7 years of experience
- Experience building and leading complex research organizations
- Broad cross-disciplinary expertise and experience leading interdisciplinary research teams
- Experience integrating diverse cultural perspectives, languages, and governance models into emerging-technology research
- Familiarity with research methods and methodological rigor
- Writing and communication skills for diverse stakeholders
- Experience building consensus across organizational teams and disciplines
- Experience cultivating relationships with philanthropic donors and funding institutions
Responsibilities
- Set the research agenda and strategy
- Lead and develop interdisciplinary research teams
- Oversee parallel research tracks from exploration through publication and deployment
- Shape the strategic direction and organizational design of the research function
- Identify funding opportunities and steward funder relationships
- Develop research partnerships with academic, industry, and civil-society partners
- Represent the Center at conferences, workshops, and convenings
- Ensure rigorous and impactful research outputs
- Recruit researchers, engineers, coordinators, fellows, and faculty
- Collaborate with communications staff to make research accessible and useful
