About the Role

You will be responsible for all matters regarding the execution of Management and Professional Liability claims activities, settlement processing and investigation of reported claims in compliance with the terms of each individual insurance/reinsurance contract, business best practice, regulatory requirements and Company rules for SiriusPoint's North American MGA and Programs group. You will also manage claim handling for Bermuda-based MGA and Programs. You will navigate a changing environment as the claims function evolves, bringing technical acumen and experience to handling a wide variety of MGA and Programs who underwrite Management and Professional Liability portfolios. You will report directly to the Head of North America MGA & Programs Claims.

Requirements

  • 7 to 10 years' experience handling Management and Professional Liability claims with a grant of authority of USD $250k or greater
  • Significant knowledge and experience of the claims process within the insurance industry
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to operate independently within grants of authority while knowing when to seek guidance
  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with senior level executives
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills in English
  • J.D. degree from an accredited University; licensed attorneys with claims experience welcome to apply

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight claims advocacy of Management and Professional Liability excess claims
  • Analyze forms, policies, endorsements, special handling instructions and other pertinent documents to validate coverage
  • Manage claims in litigation with an eye toward protection of reputational risk and prevention of bad faith allegations
  • Approve claims according to authority, company rules, and/or local regulatory requirements
  • Advise the business on claims trends and loss mitigation
  • Ensure accuracy and adequacy of all aspects of claims reserving and coverage assessment
  • Establish, maintain and develop contacts with MGA and Program partners, brokers, ceding companies, lawyers and loss adjusters
  • Treat customers fairly and professionally in all interactions
  • Travel within US and internationally as required
