Tools for Humanity is a technology company founded in 2019 and headquartered in San Francisco and Munich. It builds and operates services including World ID App and World App, which provide interfaces for creating and using World ID, accessing Mini Apps, and managing digital assets through a self-custodial wallet. It also develops the Orb and Orb Mini proof-of-human hardware and software, using encrypted iris-imaging processes and open-source components, and leads design and planning for World Spaces.

About the Role
You will lead and grow the Data Science team, set priorities, and hire new members. You will define and track key metrics, design high-quality dashboards, collaborate with data engineering to ensure data quality, run rigorous statistical analyses including causal inference, advise on experiment design, analyze large blockchain transaction datasets, and build robust prediction algorithms to inform strategic decisions.
Requirements
- PhD in economics, econometrics, operations research, or similar
- 5+ years of hands-on technical experience in a data science role as an individual contributor
- 5+ years of management experience building and leading data teams
- Extensive experience in business intelligence and data visualization
- Extensive experience in statistics and econometrics, including causal inference
- Experience designing and deploying experiments
- Experience with predictive analytics and model deployment
- Good understanding of market design and mechanism design
- Programming experience in SQL and Python or similar languages
- Experience interfacing with data engineers to deploy and maintain data science applications
- Experience with BI tools such as Metabase, Tableau, Looker, or PowerBI
- Skilled at managing cross-functional relationships and communicating with leadership
- Practical, results-oriented mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Preferred: experience with geospatial data visualization, graph algorithms, social listening tools, basic blockchain knowledge, or academic publications
Responsibilities
- Build and lead a high-performing team of data analysts, data scientists, and statisticians
- Set team priorities and hire new team members
- Foster a culture of high-quality work and continuous improvement
- Define key performance indicators and core company metrics
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality dashboards and visualizations
- Collaborate with Data Engineering to collect and ensure the quality of data in the data warehouse
- Lead in-depth statistical analyses including causal inference
- Design and advise on field experiments and A/B testing for product and operations
- Analyze large transactional blockchain datasets with cross-team stakeholders
- Design and implement robust predictive algorithms and models
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to cross-functional teams and leadership
