About the Role

You will own the delivery, performance, and growth of the Hedge Accounting managed services practice, spanning both FX and Interest Rate Risk management. You will lead a team of Derivative Accountants, forecast capacity, make staffing decisions, track delivery KPIs, and resolve client escalations. You will act as the final point of resolution for contested de-designations, novel structuring questions, and auditor challenges. You will coach and develop Managers, build a culture of accountability and technical rigor, and stay ahead of FASB and IASB developments. You will also build trusted relationships with client treasury and finance leadership and partner with Product, Implementation, Sales, and Customer Success teams.

Requirements

  • CPA required; advanced degree in Accounting or Finance a plus
  • 12+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 8-10 years focused on derivative instruments and hedge accounting under ASC 815 and IFRS 9
  • Experience spanning both FX and Interest Rate risk management
  • 5+ years managing and developing accounting or finance teams, including managing managers
  • Experience running operations of a service practice: staffing, capacity planning, KPI tracking, workflow design
  • Deep technical fluency in ASC 815 and IFRS 9
  • Strong understanding of FX derivative instruments (forwards, options, cross-currency swaps)
  • Strong understanding of interest rate derivative instruments (swaps, caps, floors, collars)
  • Track record of designing and implementing process improvements
  • Experience with hedge accounting platforms (Ripple Treasury, Chatham Financial, Reval, FIS Quantum, or comparable TMS) preferred
  • Strong communication skills with ability to defend technical positions with auditors and clients

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage the day-to-day operating model for practice delivery across FX and Interest Rate programs
  • Lead Hedge Accounting Managers and Derivative Accountants on client engagements
  • Drive resource planning and capacity forecasting including client-level staffing
  • Set and track delivery KPIs and hold the team accountable
  • Identify and introduce technology that improves service delivery speed and accuracy
  • Own hiring, organizational design, and workforce planning
  • Define and own the practice's strategy and methodology for advising clients on hedge programs
  • Manage the Client Support and Solutions team
  • Set performance expectations and provide coaching and feedback to Managers
  • Develop Managers' technical and people leadership capability
  • Own the practice's technical position on ASC 815 and IFRS 9
  • Act as escalation point for novel, contested, or high-risk hedge accounting questions
  • Step into audit conversations for contested or precedent-setting positions
  • Stay current on FASB and IASB developments affecting hedge accounting
  • Serve as final escalation point for client inquiries and accounting positions
  • Build strategic relationships with client treasury, accounting, and finance leadership
  • Partner with Product, Implementation, and Customer Success teams
  • Represent Managed Services in internal planning and reporting
  • Partner with Sales and Renewal teams for growth and retention
