About the Role
You will ensure the company complies with all relevant laws and regulations by developing and implementing policies and procedures. You will conduct compliance risk assessments, design and execute second-line controls and testing, and draft compliance recommendations for the Board. You will manage AML/CTF obligations, including KYC, onboarding, ongoing monitoring and STR/SAR reporting. You will represent the firm in matters of money laundering prevention in the Seychelles, provide subject matter expertise and guidance to other departments, and perform regular audits and reviews to maintain regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- 5+ years as a compliance officer (second line of defense) in a regulated financial institution
- Experience engaging with regulatory authorities
- Excellent knowledge of AML/CTF, VASP Act, market abuse and data protection
- Understanding of the digital assets ecosystem is a plus
- A relevant degree is required
- Extensive experience implementing monitoring and control processes to support policies and procedures
- Compliance qualification such as ACAMS or a Masters in a related field is advantageous
- Project management skills including ability to oversee complex projects
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to relocate to the Seychelles; this role cannot be performed remotely
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations by developing and implementing policies and procedures
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and elaborate an annual compliance plan
- Develop and implement second-line controls and conduct compliance tests
- Draft compliance points of attention and recommendations to the Board of Directors
- Assess future business activities to identify potential compliance risks
- Communicate policies and procedures effectively to relevant employees
- Keep policies and procedures up to date with regulatory changes
- Oversee AML obligations and act as the focal point for AML activity
- Conduct KYC, customer onboarding, ongoing monitoring and STR/SAR reporting
- Represent the company in money laundering prevention matters in the Seychelles
- Serve as an AML/CTF subject matter expert and provide guidance to departments
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure regulatory compliance
- Serve as a Board Member of the Seychelles entity focusing on compliance matters
