About the Role
You will build and lead government relations strategy across the U.S., engage directly with policymakers and regulators, monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments, and translate technical and financial concepts into clear policy narratives. You will advise internal teams on regulatory strategy, represent the organization in industry forums, and establish a scalable government relations function.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, or regulatory affairs related to financial services, payments, fintech, or digital assets
- Experience engaging with U.S. regulators and policymakers, including Treasury, the Federal Reserve, OCC, CFPB, or relevant Congressional committees
- Strong understanding of the payments ecosystem, including card issuing, acquiring, and emerging fintech infrastructure
- Ability to translate complex technical or financial concepts into clear policy narratives
- Established network across policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders in financial services
- Experience building strategy in fast-moving or highly regulated environments
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to operate independently and build a new function in a startup environment
- Bonus: Experience on policy related to stablecoins, digital assets, or blockchain infrastructure
- Bonus: Prior experience at a fintech, payments company, card network, financial institution, Capitol Hill, a federal regulatory agency, or a policy-focused trade association
- Bonus: Experience engaging with international financial regulators or global policy bodies
Responsibilities
- Build and lead government relations strategy across the U.S. to shape policy affecting digital payments, stablecoins, and card-based infrastructure
- Establish and manage relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry groups, and stakeholders across federal and state governments
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments in payments, fintech, digital assets, and financial services
- Partner with legal, compliance, and executive leadership to assess policy risks and opportunities for products and expansion
- Represent the company in industry associations, working groups, and policy forums
- Develop clear policy positions and external messaging that explain the technology's role in the financial ecosystem
- Advise internal teams on regulatory strategy for new markets, products, and partnerships
- Build and scale a long-term government relations function
