About the Role

You will develop predictive sports models across the full model lifecycle, build tools and dashboards, price markets, and generate actionable insights. You will work with product, risk, and trading teams on player, team, and game performance models, while managing and developing data scientists.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience in data science, analytics, or engineering preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in a highly numerate major or relevant data science experience preferred
  • Experience managing or mentoring data scientists or analysts
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Proficiency in Python or R and SQL
  • Strong understanding and application of Bayesian statistics
  • Expertise building and using models for production-level products and tools
  • Proficiency with command line tools and GitHub
  • Object-oriented design and coding skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work across teams, locations, and time zones
  • Interest or experience in sports gaming or fantasy sports

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy machine learning models to predict sports outcomes
  • Improve betting product offerings
  • Improve pricing techniques and optimize model pricing with trading teams
  • Manage data scientists developing production-ready models
  • Select tools, systems, and models for large data problems
  • Troubleshoot coding and modeling problems
  • Identify opportunities for data analysis
  • Create project plans for the Data Science team
  • Present findings to senior leaders
  • Construct models, analyses, and solutions for stakeholder problems
  • Manage data preparation from collection through cleaning
  • Build predictive models using feature and model selection
  • Contribute to production code
  • Create dashboards and data visualizations
  • Develop data science talent
  • Lead forums and disseminate key decisions
  • Identify and solve inefficiencies
