About the Role
You will lead shift-based technicians and oversee daily data-center operations and the hardware lifecycle. You will organise coverage and priorities, coordinate deployments and build-outs, manage incidents and records, improve procedures and safety practices, work with facility providers, and recruit, coach, and performance-manage technicians.
Requirements
- Hands-on data-center operations or comparable critical-infrastructure experience
- Experience leading shift-based technical teams
- Knowledge of server hardware, rack-and-stack, component replacement, and structured cabling
- Knowledge of copper and fibre installation, optics, and link-level troubleshooting
- Experience managing hardware deployments, incidents, inventory, and operational priorities
- Strong operational judgment and escalation skills
- People-management skills including coaching, performance management, recruitment, and team development
Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and develop a shift-based Data Center Technician team
- Organise shift coverage, workload, priorities, handovers, and daily operations
- Own the hardware lifecycle from receiving and inventory through deployment, repair, relocation, RMA, and decommissioning
- Ensure safe rack-and-stack, component replacement, cabling, and link-level troubleshooting
- Coordinate cluster deployments, capacity expansions, hardware refreshes, and site projects
- Lead responses to hardware and connectivity incidents
- Build and improve procedures, runbooks, safety practices, and escalation paths
- Maintain records for assets, inventory, incidents, maintenance, and completed work
- Recruit, onboard, coach, and performance-manage technicians
- Monitor facility events and escalate operational concerns
- Participate in on-call rotations and lead urgent incidents when required
