Core Engineer
The Bio protocol is a financial layer for Decentralized Science (DeSci), engineered to commercialize scientific research more quickly. It enables anyone to fund, develop, and govern tokenized scientific innovations from various sources. The platform is built on a growing ecosystem of DeSci projects and is supported by key figures in both the crypto and biotech industries.
About BIO Protocol
Bio Protocol is a decentralized science (DeSci) platform that serves as a financial layer to commercialize scientific research more quickly. It enables anyone to fund, develop, and govern tokenized scientific innovations from universities, companies, and researchers globally. The platform features Ignition Sales for backing promising research through low-cap fundraises, a BioXP point system for earning access to these sales through staking and governance, and a platform for building on Bio's Scientific AI Agents. The ecosystem supports various DeSci projects in specialized therapeutic areas like longevity, women's health, psychedelic science, and more, with backing from top crypto and biotech players.
Skills
About the Role
You will own the design, architecture, and implementation of the core systems that power AI agents and coordination protocols. You will architect and build high-performance agent infrastructure, design on-chain coordination mechanisms, and implement fault-tolerant backend services and data pipelines. You will integrate systems with external data sources and services, optimize performance and reliability under real-world research workloads, and lead technical decisions on system design and scaling. You will establish best practices for testing, observability, and incident response, and mentor other engineers as the team grows.
Requirements
- Proven experience building AI agent systems, research platforms, or complex infrastructure from scratch
- Strong background in distributed systems and high-throughput architectures
- Expertise in backend languages such as Python, Go, Rust, or TypeScript
- Deep understanding of LLM architectures, agent orchestration patterns, and ML systems in production
- Experience designing systems that integrate with messy real-world data sources
- Solid grasp of smart contract development and on-chain coordination mechanisms
- Comfortable operating in an early-stage fast-moving environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Responsibilities
