About the Role
You coordinate on-shift operations at a power facility and operate plant equipment during normal, startup, emergency, and upset conditions. You monitor and adjust operating parameters using DCS computers, maintain regulatory and safety compliance, handle chemicals and waste, perform chemical analysis, issue LOTO procedures, troubleshoot technical issues, improve SOPs, and train team members.
Requirements
- 10+ years of directly related experience in a power plant environment.
- Deep understanding of health and safety regulations involving hazardous energy, chemicals, and waste materials.
- Experience using test equipment, calibration appliances, and machinery repair or control systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics.
- Ability to make decisions about non-routine technical issues and emergency operations.
- Proficiency with PC computers, Microsoft Office, and specialized plant control software.
- Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Authorization to work in the USA.
- Participation in a drug and alcohol program.
- Technical or vocational school degree or relevant military service preferred.
- Advanced certifications or licensures relevant to power plant operations preferred.
- Experience operating manlifts and forklifts preferred.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate all on-shift operations.
- Operate plant equipment during normal and emergency scenarios.
- Monitor and adjust operating parameters using DCS computers.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and plant procedures.
- Maintain plant security and handle bulk chemicals and waste materials.
- Perform chemical analysis on steam, cooling, and condensate systems.
- Issue Lockout Tagouts using RedTag PRO.
- Resolve complex technical issues.
- Assist with developing Standard Operating Procedures.
- Train and mentor team members.
