About the Role
You will develop software tools for diffraction-instrument data analysis, visualization, modeling, and automation. You will refine product requirements, create documentation and tutorials, support instrument upgrades, and triage user issues. You will train and assist users, support experiments and beam-time proposals, pursue neutron-diffraction research, build collaborations, and publish results.
Requirements
- PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, or a related field
- At least 2 years of research experience beyond the PhD
- Track record of scientific software development
- Submit three letters of reference
- Obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 PIV badge and required employment credentialing
Responsibilities
- Refine data-reduction, analysis, and modeling software product requirements
- Develop documentation and tutorials for data acquisition, reduction, and analysis
- Participate in instrument upgrade projects focused on software development
- Triage and prioritize user-reported issues and bugs
- Communicate software development activities to instrument teams
- Support instrument users and train them to use instruments
- Assist with beam-time proposals and data reduction, analysis, and modeling
- Address computing needs during experiments
- Pursue neutron-diffraction research, collaborations, and scientific publications
