About the Role

You will investigate trade surveillance and electronic communications alerts from end to end. You will reconstruct order and trade activity, review communications, analyse market and trade data with SQL and Python, identify unusual patterns, assess risks, and determine what happened. You will build automated detection logic, data tooling, pipelines, and AI-assisted systems; design and test controls; improve compliance monitoring; identify framework gaps; support compliance implementation; and communicate effectively across functions.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in trade surveillance market abuse monitoring or a related markets data or compliance-technology role.
  • Strong data analysis skills with preferred hands-on experience using SQL or Python.
  • Experience automating analysis or building data tooling is a strong advantage.
  • Understanding of financial markets and trading.
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working at or with exchanges and regulators is a strong advantage.
  • Analytical and investigative capability with strong attention to detail.
  • Integrity and independent judgment.
  • Proactive collaborative and results-driven approach.
  • Ability to build strong relationships.
  • Ability to maintain high-quality output in recurring tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate trade surveillance alerts end to end.
  • Reconstruct order and trade activity from market data.
  • Review related communications and electronic communications alerts through resolution.
  • Analyse large datasets with SQL Python and AI-assisted workflows.
  • Detect and explain unusual trading patterns and assess potential risks.
  • Build and automate detection logic tooling and data pipelines.
  • Design build and refine AI and machine-learning driven surveillance systems.
  • Design and test controls that detect and prevent market abuse.
  • Measure the effectiveness of compliance controls.
  • Improve the compliance monitoring and surveillance framework.
  • Identify surveillance framework gaps and implement risk mitigation improvements.
  • Advise on and support compliance requirements implementation.
  • Build strong communication lines across functions.
