Required and preferred rules are kept separate and reflect the wording in the original posting.

About the Role

You will develop and optimize slurry coatings for ceramic monolith substrates. You will characterize slurry and coating properties, scale processes for full-size parts, maintain test equipment, analyze and document results, and communicate coating recommendations while addressing catalyst and reactor requirements.

Requirements

  • Be a B.S. or M.S. candidate in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Ceramic Engineering, or a related field
  • Understand reaction kinetics, heat transfer, and mass transport
  • Document experimental procedures, collect data, and perform statistical analysis
  • Follow laboratory safety practices for powders, solvents, and high-temperature furnaces
  • Communicate results effectively in writing and verbally

Responsibilities

  • Develop slurry coatings using powders, binders, rheology modifiers, and solvents
  • Characterize slurry properties and their effects on coating quality
  • Apply coatings to monolith substrates and evaluate loading, uniformity, adhesion, and thermal stability
  • Scale promising formulations into repeatable full-size coating processes
  • Develop scalable coating processes with external partners
  • Use characterization techniques to understand materials and coatings
  • Build, upgrade, and maintain coating and materials test equipment
  • Document procedures and results, analyze data, and communicate findings and recommendations
