About the Role
You will own the development, deployment, and operation of an existing data platform. You will translate internal requirements into production systems, coordinate external contractors, build cloud infrastructure and full-stack services, maintain data workflows, and ensure reliable, secure operations.
Requirements
- Experience building, deploying, and operating production software on a major cloud platform
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code, containers, Linux, networking, identity and access management, and CI/CD
- Software engineering skills in backend services, APIs, databases, frontend, and backend development
- Experience with data pipelines, object storage, relational databases, and large-scale data processing
- Experience taking ownership of an existing platform and delivering improvements safely
- Experience leading external developers or contractors
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Judgment about delegation and involving engineering specialists
Responsibilities
- Own platform development, integration, testing, and deployment
- Define contractor work packages, priorities, technical requirements, and acceptance criteria
- Review contractor designs and code and coordinate delivery
- Gather internal requirements and maintain a clear delivery backlog
- Manage cloud compute, storage, networking, and environments through infrastructure as code
- Develop backend services, APIs, integrations, and frontend interfaces
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, deployment processes, and developer tooling
- Develop and maintain data ingestion, processing, storage, and access pipelines
- Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, rollback, backup, and recovery procedures
- Manage contractor permissions and secrets
- Validate deliverables and ensure releases include documentation and operational support
