About the Role

You will develop climate-program narratives and create clear, accurate content for public and media audiences. You will write and edit materials across digital, social, press, and multimedia channels; pitch stories; monitor performance; coordinate communications requests; and apply digital, visualization, and AI tools to strengthen communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, climate science, environmental science, energy policy, or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of professional communications experience
  • Experience pitching stories and working with the press
  • Knowledge of climate modeling, carbon-cycle science, energy-transition pathways, and computational tools
  • Ability to translate technical topics for non-expert audiences
  • Experience collaborating with researchers, scientists, or technical subject-matter experts
  • Writing and editing skills
  • Experience using AI tools for workflows and productivity
  • Experience managing websites, digital-content platforms, and social channels
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and audience-engagement metrics
  • Project management and multitasking skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop unified narratives for the climate portfolio
  • Advise program staff on positioning, messaging, and presentations
  • Create grantee profiles, interviews, and feature stories
  • Write and edit press releases, web content, reports, newsletters, op-eds, social posts, speeches, and explainers
  • Translate climate and scientific research for media and public audiences
  • Pitch stories to journalists, podcasters, and influencers
  • Manage social-media content calendars and posts
  • Maintain consistent brand tone and messaging
  • Collaborate on video, audio, interactive, and short-form storytelling
  • Monitor communications metrics and use findings to inform strategy
  • Identify digital, data-visualization, and AI opportunities
  • Monitor climate research and grantee publications for amplification
  • Manage communications requests from internal teams and external partners
  • Provide project support to the communications team
