About the Role

Lead the fiduciary and trust operations of a proposed national trust bank, including custody, settlement, reconciliation, reserve operations, account administration, governance, regulatory readiness, vendor management, operational resilience, and team leadership.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in banking, trust, custody, or payments operations at a federally regulated financial institution.
  • Direct experience at a national bank, federally chartered trust company, or equivalent OCC-supervised institution.
  • Deep knowledge of 12 CFR Part 9, OCC safety and soundness expectations, and fiduciary examination standards.
  • Experience managing trust or custodial account administration and fiduciary recordkeeping.
  • Experience building or managing high-volume, control-intensive regulated operations.
  • Experience reporting to or working directly with a bank Board of Directors.
  • Strong understanding of bank controls, internal audit, and OCC examination processes.
  • Experience managing third-party and vendor relationships under OCC expectations.
  • Ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including board and regulator presentations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for regulatory meetings, partner engagements, and bank business.
  • Preferred: Fiduciary Officer or Trust Officer experience, de novo bank experience, digital asset custody or stablecoin experience, CTFA or equivalent credentials, and payments or institutional custody experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead fiduciary functions including custody operations, settlement, reconciliation, reserve operations, and account administration.
  • Design operational playbooks, standard operating procedures, and business continuity frameworks aligned with OCC expectations.
  • Build and manage operational infrastructure from pre-opening through steady-state operations.
  • Oversee fiduciary recordkeeping, account administration, asset segregation, ledger accuracy, and periodic reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with OCC fiduciary standards, 12 CFR Part 9, and applicable state trust law.
  • Report fiduciary activities, controls, incidents, and KPIs to the Board of Directors.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and support OCC examinations and charter approval requirements.
  • Manage banking partners, sub-custodians, reserve custodians, technology vendors, and third-party risk oversight.
  • Own operational continuity, incident response, crisis management, and remediation of control gaps.
  • Lead and develop trust and fiduciary teams while contributing to executive leadership.
