About the Role

You will define the engineering strategy and enterprise technology direction. You will establish architectural, security, tooling, and engineering standards; embed agentic AI programming practices; and ensure the roadmap is technically sound and appropriately resourced. You will assess technical feasibility for ventures, lead and develop the engineering function, manage technology budgets, contribute to executive and investment decisions, and represent the organisation as its primary external technical voice.

Requirements

• Apply a clearly articulated engineering philosophy across a large, distributed organisation
• Demonstrate deep expertise in Web3 technologies
• Apply systems thinking to developer ecosystems
• Understand how AI is reshaping software engineering
• Commit code, review engineering work, and work alongside engineers regularly
• Lead technical due diligence for acquisitions, partnerships, and venture investments
• Translate complex technical concepts for boards, investors, and non-technical executives
• Demonstrate familiarity with formal verification methods, cryptographic correctness, zero-knowledge proof systems, consensus protocol verification, and secure system design
• Have progressive technology leadership experience in senior or executive technical roles
• Have experience in Web3, blockchain, or distributed systems
• Have experience shaping developer ecosystems at scale
• Have experience contributing to executive strategy, board materials, and investment decisions
• Have experience operating at the intersection of research and product

Responsibilities

• Define the future engineering strategy with the CEO
• Own enterprise technology and architectural direction
• Shape engineering standards, culture, tooling, and working practices
• Develop and embed an AI-first agentic programming philosophy
• Ensure the roadmap is technically sound, appropriately resourced, and delivered at velocity
• Assess the technical feasibility and build approach of new ventures
• Set technical standards that keep platforms coherent, scalable, and secure
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers through a Centre of Excellence model
• Manage the enterprise technology budget, including infrastructure, tooling, AI compute, and technology investments
• Set technology policies, allocate technical resources, and shape strategic initiatives
• Provide technical health metrics on technical debt, architectural risks, and engineering velocity blockers
• Represent the organisation at conferences, panels, investor forums, and key partnerships
• Lead the technology function and maintain leadership capability and succession
