About the Role
You will design, synthesize, test, and scale catalyst formulations for high-temperature reactors. You will operate bench-scale reactors, characterize materials and degradation, analyze experimental data, document results, maintain formulation records, and collaborate on reactor, coating, and system-integration requirements.
Requirements
- Be a B.S. or M.S. candidate in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
- Have hands-on chemical synthesis and wet-lab experience
- Understand reaction kinetics, heat transfer, and mass transport
- Plan, document, and execute experiments and apply statistical analysis
- Follow safe laboratory practices for chemicals, high-temperature furnaces, and compressed gases
- Communicate results effectively in writing and verbally
Responsibilities
- Synthesize novel catalyst formulations, including supports, active phases, and precursor solutions
- Operate bench-scale test reactors and track catalyst activity, selectivity, and stability
- Scale promising formulations for coating large catalyst substrates
- Develop scalable manufacturing techniques with external partners
- Use characterization techniques to understand materials and degradation mechanisms
- Collaborate on reactor design, coatings, and system integration requirements
- Develop and execute catalyst synthesis plans, hypotheses, variables, and experiments
- Analyze experimental data, prepare reports, and maintain formulation and performance records
