About the Role
Serve as the lead lawyer for Hut 8's real estate development, construction, financing, and data center operations portfolio. Own assigned powered-land development sites from selection through commercialization and delivery, partnering with development, operations, asset management, and strategic finance teams.
Requirements
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state and membership in good standing of a U.S. Bar.
- At least 10 years of legal experience, including significant commercial real estate development, construction, and/or data center experience.
- Expertise in commercial real estate development, joint ventures, project finance, leasing, and construction transactions.
- Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with data center leases, colocation agreements, and SLAs is highly desirable.
- Strategic, practical, business-oriented approach to legal issues.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Drive legal strategy and ownership of matters across data center development phases.
- Partner with development, operations, asset management, and strategic finance teams.
- Draft, review, and negotiate real estate, leasing, joint venture, loan, and construction agreements.
- Supervise title, survey, environmental, geotechnical, and zoning diligence.
- Lead legal matters related to project financing and debt raises.
- Provide counsel across data center construction, commissioning, claims, liens, delays, defects, and safety compliance.
- Direct outside counsel, manage legal budgets, and mentor legal and paralegal resources.
