About the Role
Serve as the primary legal architect and product counsel for the credit ecosystem, guiding multifunctional teams from ideation through launch. Manage regulatory compliance, craft consumer agreements, and shape retail credit card and consumer banking initiatives in partnership with product, engineering, and compliance teams.
Requirements
- J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school or foreign equivalent.
- Membership in at least one U.S. state bar in good standing.
- 7+ years of relevant experience in law, government, technology, financial services, banking, lending, payments, or fintech.
- Knowledge of consumer lending products and federal consumer financial protection laws.
- Knowledge of consumer banking products and applicable federal laws.
- Experience working with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and its regulations.
- Advanced expertise in payments legal issues, NACHA Rules, card network rules, BSA/AML rules, and state money transmission regulation.
- Experience supporting retail customer product and service rollouts.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Execution-oriented mindset with agility, drive, and creativity.
Responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end counseling on retail payments, credit card, and banking products and services.
- Respond to complex legal requests and coordinate with internal and outside counsel.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate business and legal risks while achieving product goals.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Advise on, review, and draft consumer agreements for new products.
- Build trusted relationships and facilitate coordinated product launches.
- Act as a proactive business partner and product owner.
- Support additional legal work across the team as needed.
