About the Role
You will drive Class 8 commercial and autonomous vehicles during overnight operations, remain ready to take manual control, and follow takeover guidance. You will complete inspections, maintain ELD records, operate customer loads, document vehicle conditions, and provide detailed feedback and annotations. You will also support fleet readiness, safety standards, and operational documentation.
Requirements
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
- Valid DOT medical certification.
- At least three years of recent commercial combination-vehicle driving experience.
- Exemplary motor vehicle record, background-check results, and DOT drug and alcohol screening results.
- Ability to use an electronic logging device and independently manage Hours of Service compliance.
- Ability to work overnight, late-night, weekend, holiday, and extended shifts and travel overnight.
- Clear verbal and written vehicle-behavior feedback skills.
- Basic computer skills.
Responsibilities
- Drive Class 8 commercial and passenger vehicles safely and compliantly.
- Operate Class 8 autonomous vehicles under supervised autonomy and assume manual control when needed.
- Apply takeover guidance, maintain active mirror scanning, and make priority callouts.
- Disengage when safety, stranding, or reputational risks require it and document the situation.
- Complete pre-trip inspections and post-trip vehicle inspection reports in Fleetio.
- Maintain accurate Motive ELD records and manage Hours of Service compliance.
- Assess surroundings outside the cab when conditions require it and use spotters for backing.
- Follow platform-specific operating procedures, startup sequences, and overnight charging procedures.
- Operate customer loads to committed schedules and communicate delays promptly.
- Provide specific vehicle-performance feedback and support high-quality annotations.
- Support fleet technicians, facilities, readiness work, 5-S standards, and SOP documentation.
- Speak up immediately about safety concerns.
