About the Role
You will construct and assemble air vehicle systems, support prototype fabrication, install instrumentation, and conduct mechanical testing. You will machine components, repair aerospace hardware, integrate data-acquisition systems, document outcomes, manage parts inventory, and maintain safe and organized shop and lab spaces.
Requirements
- 4–6 years of aircraft maintenance, prototype fabrication, or test stand design and fabrication experience
- Experience with metallic and mechanism fabrication and bearing installation and removal
- Machine shop experience with manual or CNC tools
- Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and detailed work instructions
- Ability to work in shop and lab environments with noise, dust, and chemicals
- Ability to lift and move parts and equipment up to 50 pounds
- Ability to obtain an S//SAR security clearance desired
- Familiarity with hydraulic actuators, pumps, fluids, load frames, or DAQ systems
- Knowledge of adhesives, fasteners, and bonding processes
Responsibilities
- Construct and assemble air vehicle systems and subsystems from engineering drawings, instructions, and CAD models
- Support product design, prototyping, fabrication, and flight-ready hardware development
- Repair aerospace-grade components using industry-standard techniques and tools
- Fabricate fixtures, machine brackets, and modify prototype hardware
- Install strain gauges, thermocouples, and sensors according to instrumentation schematics
- Route cabling, integrate data-acquisition systems, and verify sensor calibration
- Conduct static and dynamic mechanical testing under engineering procedures
- Document test outcomes and report anomalies
- Maintain safe, clean, and organized shop, lab, and composite work areas
- Improve instrumentation standards, testing procedures, and fabrication workflows
- Source and manage parts and equipment inventory
