About the Role

You will lead the Bazel build-out, complete the in-progress migration, and design distributed build infrastructure. You will own build graphs, toolchains, caching, remote execution, and engineering conventions. You will improve test execution, reproducibility, cache reliability, build times, and CI/CD systems while partnering with development and infrastructure engineers.

Requirements

• Deep ownership experience with Bazel, including custom rules, toolchains, and target graph design in a large repository
• Experience migrating a production codebase to Bazel
• Experience deploying and operating remote caching or remote execution
• Experience with hermetic, reproducible, and observable builds
• Knowledge of C++, Rust, Python, and container image builds
• Ability to debug non-reproducible builds and cache misses to root cause
• Experience partnering with teams to understand needs and spread best practices
• Experience with incremental migration approaches

Responsibilities

• Complete the Bazel migration, including remaining complex components
• Migrate the test suite to Bazel with correct tagging and sharding
• Route hardware-dependent tests to executors with required hardware
• Design, deploy, and operate remote execution in production
• Build hermetic toolchains and reproducible builds across developer machines, CI, and hardware-attached runners
• Improve cache hit rates and cache reliability
• Establish a build-time baseline and reduce incremental build time and CI critical path
• Evolve the CI/CD system for agent-assisted development
• Improve Bazel practices across engineering teams and share best practices
