About the Role

You will shape the storage technical strategy and architecture, translate user needs into scalable designs, and make tradeoffs across durability, availability, performance, security, and cost. You will lead workload migrations, improve operations and incident response, and remain hands-on with critical production code.

Requirements

• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed storage systems
• Knowledge of replication, erasure coding, consistency models, metadata management, durability, high availability, access controls, identity, security, networking, and multi-region systems
• Experience as an owner, tech lead, or architect for complex infrastructure
• Coding ability in C++, Rust, Go, Java, or another systems language
• Experience operating critical infrastructure at scale
• Written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Shape technical strategy and architecture for storage layers
• Understand user access patterns and storage requirements
• Partner with cloud, networking, and datacenter teams
• Translate user needs into scalable system designs
• Document tradeoffs across durability, availability, consistency, performance, security, and cost
• Lead cross-functional delivery of new capabilities
• Provide consistent interfaces across backend stacks and data locations
• Plan and lead migrations of critical workloads
• Improve SLOs, observability, capacity planning, incident response, and on-call operations
• Contribute hands-on to critical production code
