About the Role

You will design and lay out block- and chip-scale photonic circuits from concept through tapeout and bring-up. You will collaborate on subsystem integration, perform layout-driven simulation and verification, improve design flows and PDKs, resolve performance issues, and contribute to photonic chip architectures.

Requirements

• MS with 10 years or PhD with 3 years of industry experience in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or a related discipline
• Knowledge of silicon photonics fundamentals
• Knowledge of silicon photonics devices, performance metrics, and design trade-offs
• Python proficiency
• Experience with script-based photonic circuit design and layout using GDSFactory or similar
• Track record of multiple photonic tapeouts
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to work independently on constrained and loosely defined problems
• Ability to comply with U.S. export control requirements

Responsibilities

• Identify optimal photonics solutions from product requirements
• Design and lay out block- and system-level photonic circuits
• Coordinate integration of on-chip photonics with analog, digital, and packaging subsystems
• Perform layout-driven photonic simulation and verification
• Identify performance bottlenecks and troubleshoot issues
• Improve photonic layout, verification, and integration flows
• Contribute to proprietary PDK development
• Contribute to photonic chip designs and architectures
• Publish results and participate in optics and photonics conferences
