About the Role

You will lead mechanical design and system integration from concept through production and field deployment. You will create and release CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and production packages; define GD&T and tolerances; package electronics; select materials and processes; lead reviews; support builds and testing; and resolve design and manufacturing issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field
  • 8+ years of mechanical design and product-development experience
  • Advanced proficiency in GD&T and ASME Y14.5
  • Experience creating and releasing detailed 2D production drawings
  • Proficiency with a production CAD platform
  • Experience with metallics, engineering plastics, composites, elastomers, and structural adhesives
  • Design-for-manufacturing experience across multiple manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of material selection, tolerance analysis, manufacturing variation, assembly processes, and inspection methods
  • Ability to lead technical decisions and resolve design, manufacturing, and integration problems

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and integration from concept through production and field deployment
  • Develop and review 3D CAD models, assemblies, interfaces, 2D drawings, BOMs, and release packages
  • Apply GD&T and perform tolerance analyses
  • Own system-level packaging of electronics, radios, antennas, PCBAs, and harnessing
  • Select materials and manufacturing processes
  • Design for CNC machining, additive manufacturing, injection molding, composite fabrication, sheet metal, and bonded assembly
  • Lead cross-functional technical collaboration
  • Manage scope, schedule, risk, and technical execution on select efforts
  • Lead design reviews and engineering analyses
  • Support prototype builds, qualification, production integration, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigations
  • Ensure reliability, manufacturability, inspectability, maintainability, and performance
