About the Role
You will define the long-term technical direction for a global observability platform and design resilient systems for telemetry, search, logging, and metrics at petabyte scale. You will build APIs and secure integrations for AI-assisted diagnostics, create regional high-availability architectures, and simplify developer workflows through self-service tooling and automated configuration. You will also guide technical design, promote observability standards, and help engineers solve complex distributed systems challenges.
Requirements
- Have 10 or more years of experience in software systems or platform engineering.
- Have at least 3 years of experience in a similar technical leadership role in observability or large-scale distributed data systems.
- Have hands-on experience designing scaling and operating telemetry data engines at multi-petabyte scale.
- Understand how to structure schema-enforce and clean high-volume telemetry streams for LLMs semantic search engines and RAG pipelines.
- Have experience with industry-standard telemetry frameworks such as OpenTelemetry and SLO-driven alert governance.
- Demonstrate strong software development proficiency ideally in Go Java or Python.
- Have experience building production-grade automated tooling and real-time data ingestion pipelines.
- Have extensive experience operating and troubleshooting high-throughput production Kubernetes workloads on-premises and in the cloud.
- Understand system-level performance tuning including networking storage and operating system limits.
- Demonstrate exceptional communication and system design skills.
- Translate complex technical trade-offs for diverse stakeholders and align engineering teams around a unified technical vision.
- Mentor and upskill engineers.
- Experience with Model Context Protocol or similar open standards is a plus.
- Experience with automated anomaly detection conversational AI querying interfaces or continuous profiling platforms is a plus.
- Familiarity with multi-tenant isolation capacity management and cost-attribution frameworks is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Architect and execute the technical strategy for a unified global observability platform.
- Lead the architectural modernization of petabyte-scale search logging and metrics systems.
- Design APIs secure interfaces and integration protocols for AI-assisted diagnostics and conversational query tools.
- Deconstruct monolithic monitoring systems into isolated high-availability regional architectures.
- Design self-service developer tooling with GitOps-driven configuration automated schema enforcement and quota and retention management.
- Provide technical direction across the observability domain and guide engineers through distributed systems challenges.
- Partner with engineering groups to align telemetry capabilities and promote modern observability standards.
