About the Role
You will track and analyze aircraft mass properties throughout development. You will conduct trade studies, estimate weight and inertia, maintain reporting and databases, validate assumptions through testing, and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing partners to control weight trends.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 or more years of mass-properties analysis experience in aerospace, defense, or high-tech vehicle development.
- CAD software proficiency, including SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with ATA100 and SAWE mass-properties standards.
- Mass-properties requirements definition and compliance experience.
- Mass Properties Management and Control Plan development and maintenance experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in system-level trade studies.
- Conduct mass-properties estimates for early-stage designs, prototypes, and production.
- Estimate, calculate, and verify weight, center of gravity, and inertia properties.
- Develop and refine mass-properties analysis tools and methods.
- Generate and maintain mass-properties reports.
- Implement mass-properties verification tests.
- Collaborate with aerodynamics, structures, avionics, propulsion, and manufacturing teams.
- Maintain the mass-properties database and track vehicle weight trends.
