About the Role
You will set the technical direction for verification systems, design service contracts and audit behavior, and make vendor integration decisions. You will address recurring failures, write architecture decisions, embed security and compliance in design, and mentor senior engineers.
Requirements
- Around eight years building and running production systems
- Deep expertise in Rust
- Ability to work across TypeScript and React
- Experience setting durable architecture for other engineers
- Experience improving teams through patterns, tooling, or mentoring
- Experience in compliance, payments, security, or another high-consequence domain
- Expertise in distributed systems, service contracts, secure design, and third-party API integration
- Experience with timeouts, retries, idempotency, circuit breakers, and backup paths
- Comfort with gRPC, Temporal, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, MySQL or MariaDB, Redis, and GitLab CI
Responsibilities
- Set the architecture and service contracts for KYC and KYB verification flows
- Design abstractions for KYC and KYB vendors
- Design fail-closed behavior and audit trails
- Identify and eliminate recurring classes of failure
- Write and drive architecture decisions
- Embed security and compliance in system design
- Mentor senior engineers through design reviews, code, and feedback
- Improve verification speed, automated decisions, decision accuracy, and system uptime
