About the Role
You will own the mechanical design, layout, and integration of actuation systems for flight controls, bay doors, and airframe mechanisms. You will develop CAD hardware designs, perform sizing and analysis, resolve vehicle interfaces, prepare design documentation, support suppliers, and execute qualification testing for production-ready hardware.
Requirements
- US citizenship and an active Secret or higher clearance
- 7 to 12 years of mechanical systems design experience in aerospace or a comparable regulated industry
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Mastery of mechanical design, kinematics, load paths, materials selection, GD&T, and tolerance stack-ups
- Capability performing hand calculations and basic FEA
- Extensive experience with 3D CAD modeling, mechanical layouts, and drawing release
- Experience with Siemens NX, CATIA, Creo, or equivalent PLM workflows
- Experience integrating actuated systems
- Experience sourcing aerospace components, managing suppliers, and assembling test setups
Responsibilities
- Develop actuator, mechanism, linkage, bracket, and installation layouts
- Own detailed CAD design through drawing release
- Perform actuator sizing, kinematic layout, and installation analysis
- Perform hand calculations and basic FEA
- Define and resolve interfaces with adjacent vehicle systems
- Develop CAD models, drawings, interface definitions, and design data packages
- Support component selection, supplier execution, prototype assembly, and test-fixture development
- Define and execute qualification test plans
