About the Role

You will design and maintain real-time control architectures, productionize algorithms, integrate control software, build testing and release systems, enforce safety and performance metrics, and mentor engineers through hands-on technical leadership.

Requirements

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Robotics, Control, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years developing robotics control software for real-time systems
  • Expertise in modern C++ and Python
  • Strong background in control theory, robot kinematics and dynamics, and real-time control systems
  • Experience deploying and validating control software in simulation and on physical robots
  • Experience with software architecture, Git, CI/CD, and automated testing
  • Debugging, profiling, and performance optimization skills
  • Experience shipping production-quality robotics software
  • Experience with release management and cross-team integration

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain modular real-time control architectures
  • Implement high-performance control loops and middleware interfaces
  • Productionize control algorithms
  • Define interfaces between motion planning, control, and hardware layers
  • Translate research prototypes into scalable, testable control software
  • Apply CI/CD, code review, testing, and documentation practices
  • Define and enforce reliability, latency, and safety metrics
  • Lead real-time control software integration across embedded and Linux systems
  • Develop simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, regression, and performance testing frameworks
  • Drive release and version management
  • Profile, benchmark, and validate software on robotic hardware
  • Implement fail-safes, watchdogs, and redundancy mechanisms
  • Mentor engineers and guide control-software architecture and quality standards
