About the Role
You will own the software design, architecture, delivery, and deployment of a mission-critical government program. You will gather customer requirements, lead a small software team, coordinate product, program, subject-matter, optimization, data-science, and security contributors, and build software when needed. You will integrate analytics into the product and manage the complete path from unclassified development to secure delivery, including data contracts, packaging, transfer, testing, and deployment.
Requirements
- 8+ years building and shipping production software
- End-to-end ownership of at least one production system as the senior technical voice
- Front-end and data visualization engineering experience such as React and TypeScript
- Ability to write and review code while leading developers
- Experience delivering software from unclassified development into secure or air-gapped environments
- Experience owning data and schema contracts
- CI/CD hygiene including testing and security scanning
- Requirements gathering and software architecture skills
- Ability to partner with optimization scientists on analytic engine and UI contracts
- Experience leading small teams and coordinating across technical and customer-facing roles
- US citizenship
- Active Secret clearance
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
- Preferred: defense or national-security software experience
- Preferred: classified, cross-domain, or air-gapped environment experience
- Preferred: optimization or operations research experience
- Preferred: government-furnished or classified environment experience
- Preferred: RMF, ATO, cATO, Iron Bank, Platform One, Second Front, Stormbreaker, or Black Pearl familiarity
- Preferred: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and SQL experience
- Preferred: containerized cloud deployment experience
Responsibilities
- Own software design, architecture, delivery, and deployment
- Manage scope, schedule, risk, and issue escalation
- Use proven open-source and off-the-shelf tools
- Gather customer and end-user requirements
- Translate requirements into software designs and delivery plans
- Represent engineering to the customer
- Run stakeholder workshops
- Drive the technical vision
- Coordinate program, subject-matter, software, optimization, and data-science contributors
- Sequence work and define completion criteria
- Unblock the software team
- Lead a small software team
- Own release cadence from capability intake through deployment
- Design software for unchanged operation in secure environments
- Own data and schema contracts
- Maintain parity between unclassified fixtures and secure-side data
- Drive offline packaging, transfer, and secure-side smoke testing
- Maintain CI/CD practices
- Coordinate security accreditation activities
