About the Role

You will play a key role within the engineering team, responsible for designing, implementing and testing backend components while contributing to the development and functionality of the Data Platform. You'll work closely with other teams across the company to build and enhance the trading platform, adding new features and capacities. You'll implement and optimise execution and algorithmic trading strategies, and build new services using Golang to meet critical product and business needs. You'll collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn the product and technical vision into a tangible quarterly roadmap. You'll monitor and support production system components such as trading algorithms, exchange connectivity, analytics and market data, while enhancing the platform for low latency and high frequency trading. You'll maintain a strong foundation of testing to avoid regressions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar backend engineering role
  • Golang experience or proficiency in other structured, strongly-typed languages (C#, C++, or Java)
  • Excellent object-oriented or functional analysis and design skills
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and designing code for high performance
  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Strong experience developing large-scale concurrent, event-driven distributed systems
  • Experience building systems in event-driven or streaming architectures using modern messaging technologies such as NATS or Aeron
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
  • Public cloud experience (GCP/AWS), including Serverless Architecture (Cloud Functions/App Engine) and BigQuery
  • Strong understanding of deployment technologies, CI/CD pipelines, code versioning, and issue management tools
  • Familiarity with POSIX-oriented environments
  • Knowledge working with data processing and financial market data
  • Understanding of order pricing, smart order routing, and execution algorithms (e.g., VWAP, TWAP, POV)
  • Experience building systems around Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA)
  • Hands-on experience with the FIX protocol
  • Experience effectively using AI assistants (e.g., Claude) to augment your capabilities and enhance your role as a developer
  • Strong communication skills and team collaboration
  • Desirable: Direct experience developing and supporting trading systems
  • Desirable: Solid understanding of financial markets, crypto markets, and digital asset products
