About Chronicle Labs
Chronicle Protocol is a decentralized oracle service designed to provide cost-efficient and verifiable data for blockchains. It addresses the limitations of traditional oracles by introducing Scribe, a cryptographic primitive that reduces gas fees significantly. The protocol emphasizes verifiability, allowing every piece of data to be tracked end-to-end via 'The Chronicle', its on-chain data record. Chronicle is blockchain-agnostic, deployable on both public and enterprise ledgers, and features a community-powered consensus network of 22 validators, including prominent entities like Infura, Etherscan, and MakerDAO. Originally developed in 2017 for MakerDAO to facilitate the creation of SAI (DAI's predecessor), it continues to be the exclusive oracle provider for MakerDAO, securing billions in assets and supporting its money markets.
Skills
About the Role
You will develop, test, deploy, configure, and maintain EVM smart contracts for oracle systems. You will review contracts, support audits and upgrades, research EVM ecosystem changes, and document contract behavior and operational risks. You will analyze DeFi protocols and translate their mechanics into reliable oracle data models and calculation logic. You will also support Go and Python tooling, deployments, production investigations, source integrations, security reviews, and technical documentation across on-chain and off-chain systems.
Requirements
- Strong practical experience with Solidity and EVM smart contracts
- Understanding of EVM internals, including storage, gas, calldata, events, and transaction execution
- Experience with Foundry or comparable smart contract tooling
- Strong computer science fundamentals
- Applied cryptography knowledge, including signatures, hashing, key exchange, key management, and common attack patterns
- Security-focused mindset and interest in smart contract review
- Understanding of DeFi mechanics, including pools, vaults, lending, staking, collateral, and token accounting
- Ability to translate protocol mechanics into data requirements and calculation logic
- Backend literacy with Go, Python, Rust, or similar tooling
- Ability to work independently and deliver within agreed timelines
- Clear written English and strong documentation habits
- Ability to reliably work with Central European working hours with strong CET/CEST overlap
Responsibilities
- Write, test, deploy, configure, and maintain EVM smart contracts for oracle systems
- Support deployments and upgrades across EVM chains and L2 environments
- Review smart contract changes for correctness, security, maintainability, and operational impact
- Support audit preparation, responses, remediation, and post-deployment checks
- Research chains, L2s, hard forks, EIPs, and EVM changes
- Build proof-of-concepts for on-chain components and move successful designs toward production
- Document contract behavior, assumptions, deployment steps, and operational risks
- Analyze DeFi protocols, vaults, pools, lending markets, staking systems, collateral models, and token accounting
- Translate protocol behavior into data requirements, assumptions, and calculation logic
- Identify edge cases and failure modes
- Support Proof of Asset and reconciliation methodology design
