About South Park Commons

South Park Commons operates a talent-dense community of technical founders, researchers, and domain experts who test ideas, find collaborators, and build conviction on what to build and how to build it. Its offering spans two stages: a six-month Residency with no cost or equity focused on ideation and exploration, and Funding of $1M to $10M for members ready to build venture-scale companies. Beyond capital, SPC provides learning forums on frontier topics (embodied AI, reinforcement learning, energy-efficient computing, AI in biotech), live programming with industry leaders, partner collaboration from a team of former founders and operators, social scaffolding to counter the isolation of early company building, and up to $1M in credits and perks from partners like Anthropic, OpenAI, Microsoft, GCP, and AWS. SPC has spaces in San Francisco, New York, and Bengaluru, and its community has produced companies such as Render, Luma Labs, Pilot, Comun, Anthropic, Unit21, and Profound.

About the Role

You will serve as the primary systems integrator for the end-to-end mission capability baseline of scalable mission platforms. Taking a holistic "Outside-In" view, you will drive core spacecraft platform roadmaps and translate them into unified baselines encompassing hardware, flight software, ground segment interfaces, and mission operations. You will partner directly with the Hardware Chief Engineer, Flight Software Architect, Ground Software Architect, and Operations teams, acting as the connective tissue across the mission stack. You will maintain strategic awareness of the broader product ecosystem including Power, GNC, Instruments, Propulsion, and Avionics, rolling up expected performance into comprehensive baselines that let Mission Lead Systems Engineers focus on mission-specific deltas rather than reinventing the core architecture. You will need to right-size analysis and processes for differing levels of system maturity and risk, stay flexible with changing demands and schedules, and communicate technical content effectively to a diverse audience.

Requirements

  • M.S. or higher degree in an engineering field plus 8+ years of experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment, preferably with exposure to spacecraft systems, payload integration, and mission operations
  • Prior experience moving organizations from custom, one-off engineering projects toward standardized, product-line engineering and reusable architectures
  • Extensive experience in AI&T workflows and V&V strategies, balancing technical risk with agile business constraints
  • Proven ability to drive alignment across highly senior, cross-functional stakeholders without direct reporting lines
  • Deep understanding of space vehicle dynamic behavior, fault management, and spacecraft flight and operations to meet strict SLAs
  • Proven history of system integration and delivery of complex, software-intensive systems
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and coordination skills
  • Ability to rapidly change roles and responsibilities while working in a high-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead the definition and integration of the holistic mission platform baseline across hardware, software, payloads, and mission operations
  • Partner with Business Development and Product Management to define end-to-end technical roadmaps for spacecraft platform families
  • Establish, document, and release standardized capability baselines for platforms so MLSEs can seamlessly inherit them
  • Act as the strategic integration peer to key domain leads including the Hardware Chief Engineer, FSW Architect, GSW Architect, and Operations Managers
  • Execute system-level simulation and analysis integrated into V&V campaigns to ensure resource budgets close and system performance meets specifications
  • Maintain situational awareness across avionics and subsystem roadmaps to ensure capabilities are delivered on required timelines
  • Drive right-sized Verification & Validation and Test Like You Fly campaigns to harden platform baselines for fleet production
  • Shape fault management architectures and operational concepts that reduce operator toil while meeting SLA requirements
  • Drive systems standardization across the organization by creating reusable requirements, specifications, and documentation
  • Track high-level system Key Performance Parameters and integration metrics to identify bottlenecks and guide resource allocation

Benefits

  • Equity grant
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401k retirement plan
  • Short and long term disability and life insurance
  • Three weeks paid vacation for new employees
  • 12 paid holidays
  • Unlimited sick time
  • Paid parental leave
