About the Role
You will serve as the technical authority for thermo-mechanical simulation, develop and validate packaging models, identify reliability risks, and recommend design, material, and process solutions. You will automate simulation workflows, lead characterization and validation, and communicate documented findings to stakeholders.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or a related engineering field
- Finite element analysis expertise with Ansys, Abaqus, or equivalent
- Experience with thermal-structural coupling, solder-joint fatigue modeling, and warpage analysis
- Knowledge of semiconductor packaging failure modes
- Experience with flip-chip, BGA, and advanced 3D packaging
- Python and/or MATLAB proficiency
- Experience developing analytical or semi-empirical engineering models
- Experience driving characterization and validation through prototyping and vendor collaboration
- Ability to comply with U.S. export control requirements
Responsibilities
- Set standards for thermo-mechanical simulation model fidelity, validation, and documentation
- Identify gaps in simulation tooling, characterization methods, and material databases
- Develop finite-element stress, warpage, and assembly-process models
- Identify reliability risks and drive design and material solutions
- Conduct multi-physics simulations, including solder-collapse and thermal-structural analysis
- Develop analytical and semi-empirical models for rapid assessments
- Drive mechanical design and electronic assembly characterization and validation
- Develop Python and MATLAB automation frameworks for simulation workflows
- Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
- Write simulation reports and methodology documentation
