About the Role

You will own end-to-end simulation, co-design, and laboratory verification of photonic-electronic links. You will build simulation infrastructure, collaborate on optical-electrical co-design, analyze link margins, and validate models against silicon measurements.

Requirements

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, or a related photonics or optics discipline with 5+ years of experience, or an MS with 8 years of directly relevant industry experience.
• Deep expertise in photonic device physics and system-level optical link design.
• Proficiency with VPI Photonics, Lumerical FDTD, Lumerical INTERCONNECT, or equivalent optical simulation tools.
• Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, Verilog-A, or Keysight ADS.
• Experience developing optical link budgets, corner analyses, and simulation-to-measurement closure workflows.
• High-speed optical laboratory skills using VNA equipment, optical spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, BER test sets, optical modulation analyzers, and optical power meters.
• Python proficiency for simulation scripting, measurement automation, and statistical post-processing.
• Knowledge of SERDES architecture, equalization, CDR, and mixed-signal PHY co-design.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve electro-optic link simulation models.
• Build multiphysics optical and analog-circuit link models.
• Execute corner, Monte Carlo, and PVT analyses.
• Co-optimize transmitter drivers and receiver front ends with circuit designers.
• Develop end-to-end photonic link budgets.
• Author test protocols and correlate simulations with measurements.
• Diagnose link performance gaps and drive corrective actions.
• Author architectural specifications and co-design requirements.
• Propose product-level co-design opportunities.
