About the Role
You will set the technical direction for the Linux kernel team, own the roadmap, architect critical development projects, and write hands-on kernel code. You will develop virtualization technologies and device drivers, optimize kernel subsystems, analyze OS and hardware issues, address security vulnerabilities, and mentor systems engineers.
Requirements
- 10+ years of systems software engineering experience
- At least 3 years in a technical leadership role managing low-level systems or infrastructure teams
- Expert knowledge of Linux kernel internals
- Expert knowledge of KVM, Xen, or QEMU
- Strong C programming skills
- Fluency with kernel patch submission and debugging security vulnerabilities
- Proficiency in Go, Rust, or Python
- Familiarity with CI/CD and deployment automation tooling
Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction for the Linux kernel team
- Own the kernel roadmap
- Architect critical development projects
- Design and implement virtualization technologies
- Develop and maintain upstream-first kernel code and device drivers
- Optimize memory management, scheduling, and I/O subsystems
- Perform root-cause analysis across OS and hardware layers
- Lead kernel CVE triage and backporting
- Build vulnerability analysis tooling
- Mentor engineers and conduct code reviews
