About the Role
You will own and improve the core backend systems powering perpetual futures, including order matching, position management, and order state. You will optimize the matching engine for latency and throughput, design reliable queueing and backpressure mechanisms, and keep order books correct under high load. You will instrument systems with metrics, logs, and traces, improve CPU and memory performance, and investigate production latency and correctness incidents through to resolution.
Requirements
- Senior backend engineering experience with a strong background in order-book-based exchange systems.
- Deep knowledge of low-latency systems, including concurrency, lock contention, asynchronous correctness, and performance profiling.
- Experience with matching engines, order state management, or similar exchange infrastructure.
- Comfort working in Rust or a strong willingness to work in it.
- Strong observability knowledge, including metrics, logs, distributed traces, and profiling tools.
- Strong computer science fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and systems design.
- Experience with high-frequency or low-latency trading infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Redis, PostgreSQL, gRPC, and Protobuf.
- Kubernetes and AWS production operations experience.
Responsibilities
- Own core exchange backend systems for order matching, position management, and order state across perpetual futures.
- Build and optimize the matching engine by profiling hot paths, reducing lock contention, and improving latency and throughput.
- Design queueing and backpressure mechanisms that keep the order book consistent and reliable under high load.
- Instrument systems with metrics, logs, and traces, and establish rollback guarantees and narrow critical paths.
- Optimize CPU, memory, and allocation behavior for high-throughput production workloads.
- Debug production latency and correctness incidents and drive measurable follow-through improvements.
