About the Role

You will design and implement core operating system components, including the kernel, system services, runtime, application framework, BSPs, and hardware abstraction layers. You will shape the OS architecture and roadmap, write and review performance-critical code, lead critical system features, and work with hardware partners and open-source communities.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of software development experience with an emphasis on low-level systems or OS development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Deep expertise in C/C++
  • Experience with Unix/Linux kernels or embedded systems
  • Experience with performance optimization, memory management, threading, and concurrency
  • Experience designing and shipping large-scale software or systems
  • Leadership experience shaping technical direction and mentoring engineers
  • Familiarity with open-source processes, tools, source control, and distributed code bases

Responsibilities

  • Define the operating system architecture and roadmap
  • Engage with open-source projects, become a committer, and submit RFCs
  • Write and review foundational performance-critical code across core OS components
  • Lead implementation of interprocess communication, memory management, security sandboxing, networking, and power and performance features
  • Collaborate with hardware partners and OEMs on BSP, HAL, device driver, and integration strategies
  • Advocate for open-source culture and engage with the Open Source Project community
