About the Role
You will own critical backend services and projects from design through production operation. You will build Java and Spring services and APIs for payments, merchant integrations, settlement, reconciliation, treasury, wallets, and internal tooling. You will lead technical design, maintain reliable and observable production systems, respond to incidents, uphold engineering standards, mentor engineers, and collaborate on technical strategy.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Deep Java expertise
- Extensive production experience with Spring and Spring Boot
- Experience designing, building, and operating backend services at scale in a cloud environment
- Knowledge of relational database schema design, indexing, query performance, and SQL
- Experience leading technical design and making architecture decisions
- Experience owning production systems, including on-call, observability, and incident response
- Strong communication skills
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and own backend services and APIs for payments, merchant integrations, settlement, reconciliation, ledger workflows, treasury, wallets, and internal tooling
- Lead technical design, evaluate trade-offs, write design documents, and align stakeholders
- Write clean, tested, maintainable code through scope, design, build, deployment, monitoring, and iteration
- Set engineering standards through code reviews and engineering practice
- Own reliability, performance, and observability for production services
- Lead incident response, resolve root causes, and deliver preventative improvements
- Evolve service boundaries, data models, queues, and integrations as the platform scales
- Champion security and compliance practices for regulated fintech
- Mentor intermediate engineers and support their technical growth
- Contribute to hiring through interviews, technical assessments, and calibration
- Partner on technical strategy and roadmap
