About the Role

You will design, build, ship, and maintain production data-platform code. You will architect distributed batch and streaming systems, collaborate with product and data stakeholders, improve reliability and cost efficiency, review code, guide technical decisions, and coach less-experienced engineers. You will use AI and agentic systems effectively in your engineering workflow.

Requirements

  • Production experience with Scala
  • Functional programming experience
  • Ability to design, build, and maintain distributed data systems in a cloud environment
  • Experience with Spark or Databricks
  • Knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Ability to balance scalability, performance, and maintainability
  • Experience with data modelling
  • Experience with workflow orchestration

Responsibilities

  • Write, ship, and maintain production code
  • Architect, design, and implement large-scale distributed data systems and pipelines
  • Contribute to technical decisions for batch and streaming data solutions
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, data scientists, and intelligence analysts
  • Explore and integrate data orchestration and cloud-native technologies
  • Own data systems from design through deployment, improvement, and support
  • Perform peer reviews and share engineering best practices
  • Improve reliability, observability, and cost efficiency
  • Help shape the data-engineering technical roadmap
  • Use AI and agentic systems effectively in engineering work
