About the Role
You will improve behavior prediction for autonomous driving, including actor intent, trajectory prediction, uncertainty, and planning interfaces. You will evaluate prediction quality, investigate failures using logs and simulation, improve prediction outputs and fallback behavior, lead technical projects, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Experience with behavior prediction, trajectory prediction, actor intent modeling, or related autonomous vehicle prediction problems
- Strong software engineering skills with C++ proficiency
- Experience working with planning systems
- Ability to analyze complex autonomy failures using logs, metrics, and simulation
- Understanding of prediction impacts on planning, safety, comfort, and system behavior
- Ability to reason across heuristic, learned, and hybrid prediction approaches
Responsibilities
- Own prediction improvements within planning
- Improve prediction models and collaborate on learned prediction models
- Improve prediction-planning interfaces, confidence, uncertainty, intent representation, and fallback behavior
- Improve planning behavior in scenarios with uncertain or changing actor intent
- Define prediction-quality metrics and evaluation frameworks
- Analyze prediction-related planning failures using logs, simulation, metrics, and scenario-based evaluation
- Lead technical projects
- Mentor junior engineers
